THE FIAT RACETRACK A GREEN MOBILITY MANIFESTO
On the roof of the Lingotto in Turin is the Pista 500, home to Europe’s largest roof garden, a symbol of the commitment to green mobility. On a parallel track, is installing charging stations for electric cars.
In the past, the Pista 500 was inaccessible and used only for testing cars made in the FIAT factory. Today the racetrack has changed its face, becoming richer in greenery and opening up to the community. The transformation of the Pista 500 has a great symbolic value: the roof of Italy’s main automotive manufacturing plant becomes the protagonist of one of the most significant works of industrial archaeology, to raise public awareness of the ecological transition and sustainability.
Today, in fact, the racetrack is only accessible to electric vehicles, bicycles and scooters. There Drivalia has installed dedicated charging stations for its customers, helping to support the racetrack’s conversion project.
The racetrack is meant to be an example of how mobility and nature can coexist and to open new avenues toward an increasingly sustainable future. The Pista 500 is the largest roof garden in Europe: an urban space that will allow the city of Turin to improve air quality thanks to the more than 40,000 native plants located there. In addition to being a green lung, it is also a unique space capable of accommodating and interpreting current environmental values, cherishing ecology, energy conservation, and the social component.
